The Calabrian cuisine mainly consists of all delicious, freshly caught fish, seafood, vegetables along with the famous red, delicately sweet Cipolla onion grown in the Tropean region as well as excellent pasta, pizza, meat and regional cooked meat.
Fans of good cuisine will find all flavours here!
It is worth to try the most famous, spicy Nduja di Spilinga, that is a hot, local sausage with very soft, creamy consistency, which is used in pizza, as a spread on ciabatta and bruschetta or as sauce for pasta. Most frequently, Nduja is mixed with the special local Fileja pasta.
The spiciness of the Calabrian cuisine is mainly obtained with the red peperoncino (chilli pepper) which the Italians add to almost everything: pasta, pizza, cooked meat, paste, sauce or jam. Calabrian cuisine also includes delicious juicy tomatoes, eggplants, olives and oranges, bananas, melons or cactus pear fruits.

We especially recommend to taste the specialities in chosen restaurants:
- Ristorante Da Mercurio - definitely one of the best restaurants in the closest vicinity of the villa (about 2 km) on the way to the beach in Coccorino. Fresh fish, seafood, exquisite pastes and pizzas!
- Ristorante Peppino Il Pescatore - located a bit further (8 km) but still close (in direct neighbourhood of the closest sand beach from us), one of the best fish and seafood restaurants in the area!
- Il Brigante - mountain cuisine, based on meat - delectable bisteca Fiorentina served on a hot stone (local speciality, pasta with Nduja), in addition to pastas, pizzas, etc., great variation from the common Mediterranean cuisine available there (8 km).
- Il Ducale - mountain cuisine, based on meat (local speciality, Nduja) pastas, pizzas, etc., great variation from the common Mediterranean cuisine available there (8 km).
